1st Prize in Fikrimİz Ideathon Competition

In the #Competition titled “Fikrimİz Ideathon” organized by the collaboration of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Stage-Co, the team of our graduates Aybüke Taşer, Ezgi Leblebici and Simay Erdeğer from #YaşarUniversity #ArchitectureDepartment was awarded the #FirstPrize.

The project contains design ideas to make Izmir an entrepreneur city and to transform the Youth Campus in Izmir Historical Coal Gas Factory into an entrepreneurship and creativity center.

The design proposal for the newly created “FikrimIz Innovation and Incubation Center” in Coal Gas Factory focuses on the questions of “What is a dynamic space? How are the dynamics of the city reflected in the space?” It aims to answer these questions through a changing and transformable spatial setup.

We congratulate our graduates and wish them continued success.
Below you can find the description of the project…

“When we examine the position in which the idea is carried out in-depth, we can see that many layers exist together cumulatively and accumulate continuously. For this reason, the design concept consists of a ‘moment’ in the space rather than a defined place. The spatial fiction itself, which meets the possibility of ideas/moments that can be executed, experienced by mutual nourishment, metaphor through emulation, and which can be produced by changing and experiencing their cycles, must also meet a multi-layered and variable concept. The state of the user having a share in the existence, transformation, and flow of the space will also make us think about the concepts of ownership and belonging. By the words of Pınar Geçkili, ‘This whole movement transforms the belonging, which is itself an intermediate state’. It is seen that various new intermediate situations are emerging while transforming. The intermediate state strengthens the bonds between interactions just as belonging is a bridge. If the space is changing or transforming, the space must also adapt to this mechanism and keep up with this movement. How does the space become dynamic? This should be with a system that can change and transform by the user depending on the user experience. What we call innovation is the renewal process of the city and societies. We believe that this process will start with the individuals and the spaces they shape. Because when you intervene in the space and start changing and transforming it according to your needs, you start the creativity and innovation in that space at that very moment. The innovation that started there at that moment expands and begins to spread to the periphery of the city. “
