2024 – 2025 Strategic Plan
Strategy # 1: Enhancing Architectural Education Through Strategic Erasmus Partnerships
The Yaşar University Department of Architecture is strategically advancing its commitment to academic excellence by expanding its Erasmus partnerships. This initiative is designed to elevate the quality of architectural education through global collaboration and exchange. For this reason, the Erasmus Commission of the department has compiled a list of potential partner universities that share common visions with our department. Refer to Appendix 2 for the complete list of proposals.
A- Selection Method for Erasmus Partnerships – Architecture Departments
The process for selecting Erasmus partners within the Architecture Department involves a meticulous assessment of potential universities based on their alignment with our educational vision and goals. The following steps outline our method:
Review of University Profiles:
The Erasmus Commission begins by thoroughly reviewing the profiles of candidate universities. This includes examining their academic reputation, faculty expertise, and the overall quality of their architecture programs.
Alignment with Department Vision:
Emphasis is placed on identifying universities that share a vision similar to ours in terms of architectural education, innovation, and global engagement. A close examination is conducted to ensure that the partner universities are well-regarded in the field of architecture and uphold academic standards that align with our department’s objectives.
Erasmus+ Contact Assessment:
The Erasmus Commission pays special attention to the Erasmus+ contacts provided by each university. These contacts serve as crucial liaisons for effective communication and collaboration. The expertise and responsiveness of Erasmus+ contacts are evaluated to ensure smooth coordination during the partnership.
Previous Erasmus Experiences:
Consideration is given to the experiences of other institutions that have engaged in Erasmus partnerships with the candidate universities. Positive feedback and successful collaborations with other institutions enhance the desirability of the potential partner.
Evaluation of Architectural Programs:
The Erasmus Commission assesses the architecture programs offered by the universities on the list. This involves scrutinizing the curriculum, faculty credentials, and the opportunities for students’ academic and professional development.
Consideration of Student Mobility Support:
The level of support provided for student mobility is a key factor. This includes evaluating the availability of resources, guidance for incoming students, and the overall commitment to facilitating a positive mobility experience.
In summary, the selection process is comprehensive, considering not only the academic aspects but also the practicalities of collaboration. By focusing on alignment with our department’s vision and the ability to provide a valuable experience for both students and faculty, we aim to establish partnerships that contribute significantly to the enrichment of architectural education at Yaşar University.
Strategy # 2: Scheduling Informative Student Meetings
Setting a meeting with Erasmus candidates holds significant importance as it serves as a crucial platform for providing essential information, addressing queries, and fostering a clear understanding of the Erasmus program.
Meeting Structure:
Welcome and Introduction (3 minutes):
-Greet the attendees and provide a brief overview of the purpose of the meeting.
-Introduce members of the Erasmus Commission and emphasize their role in facilitating the Erasmus Mobility program.
Overview of Erasmus Mobility (10 minutes):
-Briefly explain what Erasmus Mobility entails and its significance for students.
-Highlight the benefits of international experience, cultural exposure, and academic enrichment through Erasmus.
Introduction to Our Website Page https://arch.yasar.edu.tr/genel-bilgi/ (10 minutes):
-Navigate through the department’s Erasmus webpage.
-Explain the key features, such as available resources, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and important updates such as exam dates.
-Emphasize the user-friendly interface and where to find essential information.
Question and Answer Session (25 minutes):
-Encourage students to ask questions about the Erasmus program, mobility destinations, and related concerns.
-Address common inquiries that students might have about the application process, eligibility criteria, and the selection process.
Application Procedures (10 minutes):
-Provide a step-by-step overview of the application procedures.
-Clarify the documentation required (Learning Agreement), deadlines, and any specific requirements for the application.
-Offer guidance on how to navigate the online application system (OLA).
Personal Experiences Sharing (15 minutes):
-Invite students who have previously participated in Erasmus Mobility to share their experiences or watch pre-recorded videos of mobility students with the candidates.
-Discuss challenges they faced and the benefits they gained from the program.
-Allow for an open discussion where current participants can ask questions to past participants.
Strategy # 3: Increasing the amount of mobility surveys and publishing in the website
Strategy # 4: Updating department website Erasmus guide – how to use OLA + process
